Don’t Hang In There, Call In the House Fluffer
by Connie Williamson
Some people coined up the idea of calling home stagers ‘dream weavers’ or ‘home magicians’…and who could blame them? Especially not if you’re a home owner hanging onto a home you’ve been trying to sell for the past year while paying double mortgage for the old and new home. Home stagers are sometimes called house fluffers as well.
The role that house fluffers play is so significant that one should never undermine the power of the skills that they possess. If you’ve never used a home redesigner to sell your home before, you’ll be disbelieving when the final effect is over and done with. Many sellers can attest to how fast a home will sell after house fluffing and the most amazing thing is that they sell for way over the expected price!
In all honesty, if you’re trying to sell a home fast and you’re willing to invest some money in ensuring that the right people fall in love with your home, you’ve got to call in a house fluffer to work their stuff on your property. This is the fastest way to score in the real estate industry – everybody knows that.
Gloomy economy or not, home staging or house fluffing has been widely used throughout Canada and the US, as well as many other parts of the country. It is a fact that the real estate industry in Edmonton Alberta is a buyer’s market right now where the number of homes being listed for sale or rent far outnumbers the number of people looking to buy.
When it’s a buyer’s market, the buyers have every right to take their time to ‘look around’. One home buyer says, “I know it’s not really fair but I am not in any particular rush. I know I will fall in love with the right home at the right time. I’ll know it when that happens and that’s when I will buy”, says Cassie, a thirty-four-year-old potential buyer. And the house fluffer’s job is to assist the ‘falling in love’ process….the way a makeup artist would assist in the beautifying process.
People like Cassie are all over the place! They’re bidding their time while sellers and real estate agents work their hardest to tie-up a sale. For some sellers, waiting isn’t quite the game they are keen on playing.
Picky buyers vs. Desperate sellers….home staging is the only viable solution.
If the sellers are willing to invest some money into hiring professional house fluffers or home stagers to come in and work their stuff with the home, the waiting period could be shortened by half. If the home fluffer is really good, the seller will be rewarded with a higher price for the home. The reason behind that is because there are many homes in Edmonton Alberta today that are being listed, and many of them don’t ‘show’ very well.
If an owner makes the ‘extra’ effort to hire a professional to do up the place, the home automatically becomes more marketable. Some users of house fluffing services report multiple offers from potential buyers while their competitors sit around waiting for one.
If your home has been listed for a year or so without a single offer, then it’s time to make a move and call in a professional house fluffer so that he/she can work his/her magic into your home.
